Resumo: | Studies conducted in capitals cities show that male and female people experience different experiences and habits of life. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the sleep habits of university students from the interior of the newborn according to sex. This is an analytical study with a quantitative approach. Four instruments were used for data collection: Epworth Sleepiness Scale; Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index; Munich Chronotype Questionnaire and Health and Sleep. 64 undergraduate students from UFRN / FACISA participated. Sleep duration in both sexes on weekdays was 6.2 ± 1.2h, while at the weekend the women had an average duration of 1h more than men. There was no difference in sleeping and waking hours during the week, in daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality according to sex. However, both presented high levels of daytime sleepiness and poor sleep quality. It can be concluded from this study that the students present sleep problems, not varying with the sex and the social context of the interior. Therefore, other factors may be exerting a greater influence on the sleep of these students. |
