Resumo: | This undergraduate thesis focus on the production of the “As Evas do século XXI” (The Eves
of the 21st Century) reportage on Godllywood, a group related to the biggest representative of
Neopentecostal religion in Brazil—the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (IURD). The
Godllywood group is led by Cristiane Cardoso, oldest daughter of the founder and leader of
IURD, Edir Macedo. This women-exclusive group describes itself as a movement to rescue
forgotten values and it is through that group that wives and ministers and bishops advise girls,
teenagers and adult women about various aspects of daily life, in most of cases expressing
conservative opinions and values, and also criticizing the feminist movement. “As Evas do
século XXI” reportage recounts the experience of women who belonged to that group and
contextualizes some practices in relation to the patriarchy in the west civilization, which is
justified by a male-oriented interpretation of the Holy Bible historically decontextualized for
more than two thousand years. The choice of the reportage genre is substantiated in accord with
the authors Nilson Lage (1985, 2005a, 2005b) and Kotscho (1986). To completely understand
the Neopentecostal religion this work bases on Mariano (1996) and Lerner (2019). The
reportage was developed on the ground of interviews produced with central characters for the
narrative and specialists on the theme–always prioritizing the dialog–consequently as Medina
(1995) defends, making it not only just a simple technic but an important instrument to human
communication, furthermore utilizing a document-orientated research based on Godllywood
videos on YouTube. |
