This work aims to analyze journalistic articles published in online vehicles of state circulation addressing the issue of privatization of the Water and Sewage Company of Rio Grande do Norte (Caern) in which the discussions about the institution of a new legal framework were accentuated. for basic sanitation in Brazil from the Law 4162/2019. For purposes of delimiting the corpus of this work, was decided to analyze news and opinion articles in the online version of two newspapers that also circulate in print (Agora RN and Tribuna do Norte) and two blogs with considerable number of accesses (Blog do BG and Robson Pires Blog). The intention of the research is to understand, based on the theoretical and methodological principles of Discourse Analysis, the discursive relations established in the dominant commercial media and in the liberal and neoliberal ideological blogs regarding the provision of the sanitation service by Caern. Preliminary and exploratory readings of the news texts of the vehicles reveal that, in general, the pages of newspapers and blogs present a position in favor of privatizations and changes in the state's development model, as well as projected future benefits for the population in case the Caern becomes controlled by the private sector. It is possible to say that the media feeds an imaginary of the future in the discourse on the privatization of public companies that provide essential services. Este trabalho visa a analisar matérias jornalísticas publicadas em veículos on-line de circulação estadual abordando o tema da privatização da Companhia de Águas e Esgotos do Rio Grande do Norte (Caern) no qual se acentuaram as discussões a respeito da instituição de um novo marco legal para o saneamento básico no Brasil a partir do Projeto de Lei 4162/2019. Para fins de delimitação do corpus optou-se por analisar notícias e artigos de opinião na versão on-line de dois jornais que também circulam em edição impressa (Agora RN e Tribuna do Norte) e de dois blogs com considerável número de acessos (Blog do BG e Blog do Robson Pires). A intenção da pesquisa é compreender, com base nos princípios teórico-metodológicos da Análise do Discurso, as relações discursivas estabelecidas na mídia comercial dominante e nos blogs de cunho ideológico liberal e neoliberal a respeito da prestação do serviço de saneamento pela Caern. Leituras prévias e exploratórias dos textos noticiosos dos veículos revelam que, em linhas gerais, as páginas dos jornais e os blogs apresentam uma tomada de posição a favor das privatizações e de mudanças no modelo de desenvolvimento do estado, bem como são projetados benefícios futuros para a população potiguar caso a Companhia de Águas e Esgotos passe a ser controlada pela iniciativa privada.
