description The communication of Brazilian science can, and should, be done in the places where it is being researched and built daily: in institutes, universities and laboratories in all regions of Brazil. Therefore, it is interesting in this research to question the space and treatment given to science news on the institutional website of the largest institution of higher education and research in Rio Grande do Norte, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). To answer this question, the productions involving Science, Technology and Innovation published in the four-month period, from August to November 2019, on the institutional website of UFRN were cataloged. Then, these productions were separated into three analysis groups (Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3) according to their journalistic characteristics. This division was made so that content analysis could be carried out, based on theorists Gislene Silva (2003, 2005), Kunsch (2018) and Vizeu (2003), and quantitative analysis in relation to the journalistic coverage of the areas of knowledge. Based on that, it was observed, in the content analysis, the production potential for Groups 1 and 2, each within its dissemination objectives, to produce content better designed to disseminate Science. While the reports in Group 3 celebrate the best of science journalism: the deepening of scientific research produced by researchers at UFRN, with data, graphics and images to facilitate the understanding of the content covered. In turn, in the analysis of the areas of knowledge, the conclusion reached was that the productions of Groups 2 and 3 can improve their coverage field to more evenly cover the areas of knowledge, in the same way as with news from the Group 1. In addition, in this monograph, there was also an increase in the number of Science productions during the month of November 2019, a relevant data to represent the growth of the Communication Agency's attention with Science news and reports throughout the period. Thus, by understanding science journalism as a partner of the UFRN Portal for the popularization of Science, the Communication Agency, in addition to contributing to society's knowledge of scientific guidelines, may also start to strengthen the construction of the university as a reference with regard to the production of quality scientific knowledge in Rio Grande do Norte.

A comunicação da ciência brasileira pode, e deve, ser feita nos locais onde ela está sendo pesquisada e construída diariamente: nos institutos, universidades e laboratórios de todas as regiões do Brasil. Por isso, interessa nesta pesquisa questionar qual o espaço e tratamento dados à notícia de ciência no site institucional da maior instituição de ensino superior e pesquisa do Rio Grande do Norte, a Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). Para responder a essa pergunta, foram catalogadas as produções envolvendo Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação divulgadas, no período de quatro meses, de agosto a novembro de 2019, no site institucional da UFRN. Em seguida, essas produções foram separadas em três grupos de análise (Grupo 1, Grupo 2 e Grupo 3) de acordo com suas características jornalísticas. Essa divisão foi feita para que fossem realizadas as análises de conteúdo, com base nos teóricos Gislene Silva (2003, 2005), Kunsch (2018) e Vizeu (2003), e as análises quantitativas em relação à cobertura jornalística das áreas do conhecimento. A partir disso, foi observado, na análise de conteúdo, o potencial de produção para os Grupos 1 e 2, cada um dentro de seus objetivos de divulgação, de realizar conteúdos melhor pensados para divulgar a Ciência. Enquanto as reportagens do Grupo 3 celebram o que o jornalismo científico tem de melhor: o aprofundamento das pesquisas científicas produzidas por pesquisadores da UFRN, com dados, gráficos e imagens para facilitar a compreensão do conteúdo tratado. Por sua vez, na análise das áreas do conhecimento, a conclusão obtida foi de que as produções do Grupo 2 e 3 podem melhorar seu campo de cobertura para abranger de forma mais igualitária as áreas do conhecimento, da mesma forma como acontece com as notícias do Grupo 1. Além disso, também foi verificado, nesta monografia, o aumento no número de produções de Ciência durante o mês de novembro de 2019, dado relevante para representar o crescimento da atenção da Agência de Comunicação com as notícias e reportagens de Ciência ao decorrer do período.
