Resumo:The improperly discharge of produced water by the petrochemical industry is part of the residue that is responsible for undesirable effects on the environment and human health due to the presence of organic compounds which have mutagenic and carcinogenic properties, even in small quantities. This study aims to evaluate the removal of organic compounds dissolved in produced water by using Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs). The experimental results showed that the Electro-Fenton process (PE) shown to be more efficient than the anodic oxidation process. It showed a higher rate of removal of organic compounds and consequently a higher degradative power of BTXs in 4 min, while in conventional anodic oxidation with a boron doped diamond anode (BDD), it was passed about 60 min. It was shown that the EF quickly removes BTXs, but the same does not occur with the TOC of the solution, and the anodic oxidation with DDB is most effective. Finally, the AOPs proved to be considered alternative for the treatment of oil industry effluents, as well as having a low cost, it is also an environmentally clean technology, generating few or no residue during its application.
