Resumo:The polysaccharides are used in many industries, among them is the oil, where these polymers are extensively employed in the formulation of drilling fluids, mainly, as rheology modifiers. The physicochemical properties attributed to the drilling fluids for the presence of these polymers were evaluated in the presence and absence of different salts such as sodium chloride (NaCl), sodium acetate (CH3COONa) and sodium formate (HCOONa) in order to reduce environmental impacts in onshore drilling with the changing salts. Five formulations containing xanthan gum and guar gum in total concentration of 3 lb/bbl and different compositions (0/3; 1/2; 1.5/1.5; 2/1 and 3/0) were prepared. The other additives used were: MgO 0.3 lb/bbl; CaCO3 9 lb/bbl and triazine 0.3 lb/bbl. The rheological properties were obtained using a Fann 35A viscometer at 25 °C. The filtrate volume was measured in API press filter at room temperature (25 °C) and 100 psi pressure. The results indicated that the guar gum contributes to the formation of a low permeability cake and the use of organic salts demonstrated the possibility of reducing environmental impacts.
