description The art research on Catu's imagery emerged during a school visit, with a group of students from the More Education project, to the indigenous remnant community, Catu dos Eleotérios. During this visit, we met the João Lino Municipal School (the only indigenous school in the state of Rio Grande do Norte), and we perceive the relationship between the residents and the legends, the enchanted beings who protect the forests, animals and springs of the community. From the legends, images were created for the graffiti sketch, which was carried out at the Dr. Hélio Mamede Municipal School of Freitas Galvão, in the city of Goianinha (located in the east of the Potiguar mesoregion), through the fusion of the imaginary of the researcher with the images that are raised by the report of some residents of Catu. From a series of visits, the legends about the enchanted, the photos and the collection of reports through interviews were carried out. Also discussed are the history of the community and its problems faced. For this we use imaginary theories, according to Wunenburguer (1998) and the visual poietics of René Passeron (1989). The creation process takes place in the research, taking into account the creative process in the visual poetics (PASSERON, 1989), with graffiti as a medium for imaging. Thus, I carried out an urban intervention as a strategy to help in the process of recognition of the individuals of the community, who go through various problems, such as the fight against the prejudice that, until now, indigenous descendants are practiced and the demarcation of their territory.

A pesquisa em arte sobre o imaginário coletivo do Catu surgiu durante uma visita escolar, com uma turma de alunos do projeto Mais Educação,à comunidade de remanescentes indígenas, Catu dos Eleotérios. Nesta visita, conhecí a Escola Municipal João Lino (única escola indígena do estado do Rio Grande do Norte), percebemos a relação entre os moradores e as lendas, os seres encantados que protegem as matas, animais e nascentes da comunidade. A partir das lendas foram constituídas imagens para o esboço de um graffiti, que foi realizado na Escola Municipal Dr. Hélio Mamede de Freitas Galvão, na cidade de Goianinha (localizada na mesorregião leste potiguar), por meio da fusão do imaginário do pesquisador com as imagens que são suscitadas pelo o relato de alguns moradores do Catu. A partir de uma série de visitas, foram realizados o levantamento das lendas sobre os encantados, fotos e a coleta de relatos por meio de entrevistas. Também são abordados o histórico da comunidade e seus problemas enfrentados. Para isso utilizamos das teorias de imaginário, segundo Wunenburguer (1998) e as poiéticas visuais de René Passeron(1989). O processo de criação ocorre na pesquisa, levando em consideração o processo criativo nas poéticas visuais (PASSERON,1989), tendo o graffiti como meio para a realização imagética.
