Resumo:To stay in the market and grow, any company needs to manage its actions well. In Health it is no different. With the growth of care costs, whether due to competition or the development of new technologies, cost management is essential for the survival of any healthcare company. In this context, the home care service has been used as a cost-cutting strategy for health care providers to the detriment of hospitalization. Combining savings, there is also the possibility for patients to receive quality care in the family environment. This study aimed to describe the profile of users and the impact on the cost of providing the home care service by a healthcare company. The research was classified as a descriptive research regarding the objective, regarding the procedures, it is a case study and a documentary research, and regarding the approach, it was classified as qualitative and quantitative. Data collection took place through interviews and documents made available by the company and for data analysis, descriptive statistics and content analysis were used. As a result, there was a higher incidence of users of advanced age (58% over 80 years), female (67%), from de-hospitalization (64.9%) and hypertension as the most recurrent pathology (289 incidences) , followed by some dementia (191 incidences) and Alzheimer's (172 incidences), denoting the chronicity of the patients. With regard to costs, when comparing a patient in the home care program with hospital admission, there was an 80% savings. In the comparison between hospitalization and the home care program, the economy was only 31% due to the high course with staff, since patients in the home care program have a nursing technician available 12 or 24 hours a day, corroborating with other previous studies. Finally, it suggests that further studies be carried out, deepening the theme of costs, evaluating costing methodologies and providing valuable information in decision-making.
