The theoretical basis for this work were: Ariès (2006), Tiba (2007), Libâneo (2012), Zagury (2015), among others. The qualitative research was based on a semi-structured interview process with managers of 04 public schools, being 02 state and 02 municipal, in different districts of the city of Caicó-RN. The analysis showed that the partnership between family and school is essential for students / children to succeed in the teaching-learning process, but although they recognize the relevance, they still face difficulties for the effectiveness of the partnership between the school and the family. O presente estudo estabelece uma discussão sobre a importância da família no âmbito escolar. Os objetivos traçados foram Investigar estratégias desenvolvidas pelas instituições educativas para aproximar a família do cotidiano escolar; Descrever como ocorre a comunicação da escola com a família, identificando os canais utilizados; Relacionar que tipos de atividades são propostas e refletir sobre sua efetividade. A base teórica que fundamentou este trabalho foram: Ariès (2006), Tiba (2007), Libâneo (2012), Zagury (2015), entre outros. A pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, precedida de um estudo exploratório no tocante do levantamento bibliográfico, partiu de um processo de entrevista estruturada com gestores de 04 escolas públicas, sendo 02 estaduais e 02 municipais, em diferentes bairros da cidade de Caicó- RN.
