Resumo:Every company needs to adopt policies and practices of management of satisfactory people to have a positive organizational climate, aiming to keep its employees motivated and more productive to face the scenarios of high competitiveness of the present day. Therefore, this research showed that many employees of a hotel in the city of Natal-RN continue to work motivated and prefer to continue in the company because they are satisfied with the work environment, the help received from the company when they are in personal problems, besides some other issues. However, the survey also showed that there are disgruntled employees, regarding the lack of qualification and communication courses in the company; space to receive ideas and suggestions; recognition, valuation and evaluation of performance, among other things. Thus, this work aimed to analyze the factors that influence the motivation of the hotel employees. As a methodological course, a questionnaire was used for the employees and an interview with the hotel management to identify the positive and negative motivational factors. Finally, the work sought to provide a discussion of some concepts and theories about motivation supported by an exploratory-descriptive research on the theme and also by the reality of the company seen by the employees and the hotel management. The contribution of this work in terms of development was to highlight which motivational factors that are negatively influencing some hotel employees may become a barrier to their professional performance in the quality of their services, and that in view of this, it is interesting that the company, of the results found in this research, improve their policies and practices of people management so that their employees return to work with more motivation, causing the hotel to achieve the expected results.
