The research has a qualitative approach, which seeks to analyze the opinions and experiences of exchange students, studying the particularities and experiences of groups. Data collection was performed through document analysis and semi-structured interviews, with the script prepared, identifying the perception of the subjects. As the results was found that Natal - Rio Grande do Norte, is not the first option to perform the exchange. The answers show that the exchange students interviewed did not know Natal before arriving at the destination, identifies that most of the interviewees were linked to the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN, and all had positive opinions about the institution and its exchange programs. In general, the interviewees felt welcomed by the city's population, despite the typical difficulties of exchange between countries such as culture shock and language. It was found that there are complaints about the transit and disorganization of the public transport system, considered outdated, also mentioning insecurity and reporting cases of racism.
