Despite this, there are few studies that deeply investigate the consequences of criminality or the image that it creates in tourism of a certain tourist destination. In face of this scenario, the present research brings up the relevance of studies on crime, bringing the city of Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) as it’s spatial cutout, and having as a central objective to analyze how insecurity has interfered in the modus operandi of receptive tourism companies. The methodology used to reach the objective proposed by the study was to carry out a study on the implications of the phenomenon addressed, data gathering of the state and municipality in question so that the considerations listed are closer to reality and semi-structured interviews with people from the strategic level of receptive companies from Natal. The survey revealed that fear of crime causes changes in the modus operandi of receptive tourism enterprises from Natal. A criminalidade gera inúmeros impactos negativos para todos os setores da sociedade e com o turismo não seria diferente, tendo em vista que a violência exacerbada pode levar a um rápido declínio de uma localidade turística. Apesar disto existem poucos estudos que se aprofundem nas consequências desta criminalidade ou da imagem que ela gera no turismo de determinado destino turístico. Diante desse cenário, esta pesquisa traz à tona a relevância de estudar sobre a criminalidade, trazendo como recorte espacial a cidade do Natal (Rio Grande do Norte), e tendo como objetivo central analisar como a insegurança tem interferido no modus operandi das empresas de turismo receptivo. A metodologia utilizada para alcançar o objetivo proposto pelo estudo foi a realização de um estudo sobre as implicações dos fenômenos abordados, levantamento de dados do estado e do município em questão para que as considerações elencadas estejam o mais próximas à realidade e entrevistas semiestruturadas com pessoas do nível estratégico das empresas de receptivo natalense.
