Resumo:Criminality generates numerous negative impacts for all sectors of society and tourism would not be different, given that the exacerbated violence can lead to a rapid decline of a tourism region. Despite this, there are few studies that deeply investigate the consequences of criminality or the image that it creates in tourism of a certain tourist destination. In face of this scenario, the present research brings up the relevance of studies on crime, bringing the city of Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) as it’s spatial cutout, and having as a central objective to analyze how insecurity has interfered in the modus operandi of receptive tourism companies. The methodology used to reach the objective proposed by the study was to carry out a study on the implications of the phenomenon addressed, data gathering of the state and municipality in question so that the considerations listed are closer to reality and semi-structured interviews with people from the strategic level of receptive companies from Natal. The survey revealed that fear of crime causes changes in the modus operandi of receptive tourism enterprises from Natal.
