Resumo:Aspects related to the environmental theme are becoming a common and priority issue in society. The interaction between man and the environment results in environmental impacts, whether positive or negative, requiring an awareness of society regarding the use of natural resources. Environmental education is an important tool for raising awareness and training the general population about the environmental problems that exist in our society. The analysis of environmental and sanitary perception is of paramount importance for the diagnosis of the situation of a community in relation to the environment, evaluating the valorization of natural resources and the understanding of how a healthy environment interferes with the well-being of a community. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the environmental and health perception of students and teachers at the Senador José Bernardo State School located in the municipality of São João do Sabugi / RN, in order to propose improvements in the school community through suggestions for action practices. environmental and health education for school members. The methodology consisted of applying questionnaires with an environmental and health focus to students and teachers to collect data and further analyze the level of perception of members of the school community. According to the results obtained in the analysis of the applied questionnaires, there was a need for encouragement on the part of the school and municipal administration regarding the environmental and sanitary theme at the school, lack of commitment by students and teachers to continue the existing projects at the school and small health perception of students. Finally, the results of the research were used as a basis for proposals for new actions that aim to contribute to the sustainable development of the school, improve the environmental and health perception of its members and propose actions that, although simple, when well executed, lead to greater environmental awareness.
