Resumo:Water consumption has been increasing in recent decades due to economic development and population growth. Thus, it is necessary to avoid conflicts and seek solutions to meet this demand. Rio Grande do Norte, among other regions of Brazil, faces this type of situation. Each State, through Law 9.433 / 97, must control the use of water and allow its access to the population. Some municipalities of the RN have difficulties in their supply systems. Therefore, it is necessary to identify problems of water scarcity and point solutions. The study area in question is the municipality of Santana do Matos and its two largest reservoirs. The Acquanet Model was used to allow the simulation of reservoirs, demands and stretches of channels, to represent the problem and contribute to the solution. Data such as Quota-Area-Volume curves, evaporation rates, tributaries and demands were obtained and used in the simulations. Therefore, scenarios can be simulated and sustainability indicators can be used to analyze the water sustainability of the reservoirs. Therefore, given the failures to meet demand in some of the proposed scenarios or even the drought issue in the region, management actions can be proposed, such as well supplies to increase water security in the municipality.
