Resumo: | Despite representing a large part of the Brazilian population, individuals suffering from mental disorders still face strong difficulties in seeking treatment and professional help. The process of therapy and healing can be extremely stressful, a sentiment that is potentially aggravated by the consequences of the use of spaces whose architecture has inadequate attributes for the welcoming and supporting of neurodivergent people. Sterile, intimidating and unpleasant environments hurt the patient's relationship with their space for physical and mental recovery. By carrying out the development of therapies in spaces that are adequate for the construction of pleasant connections, the continuity and quality of the treatment of mental disorders become easier, contributing to the patient's recovery. The principles of biophilia, the inclination of the human being towards nature, can enter this aspect by facilitating, when inserted in the project guidelines, the creation of pleasant and welcoming surroundings which do not negatively collaborate or remain neutral in face of treatments for psychological problems, but serve as part of the processes of healing, maintaining and recovering the mental health of its users. Thus, this paper proposes to analyze the principles of therapeutic architecture focused on mental health environments to develop the preliminary design of a mental health center guided by the principles of biophilia. |
