| Resumo: | The main objective of this study is to present the analyzes carried out on violence against the elderly, in order to demonstrate the various factors that trigger the occurrence of this type of violence. In order to do so, a historical contextualization of the situation of the elderly was necessary, as well as the policies of attendance to this segment. The issue of contemporary violence against the elderly and Prevention of Violence against them was discussed. The research was carried out based on data gathered from documental and bibliographic research to reach the proposed objective. Knowing the characteristics of the complaints of violence against the elderly was shown to be necessary to support requests for the extension and modification of public policies for the protection and assistance of the elderly. And so we conclude that it is necessary to involve family members, rulers and society in order to devise strategies that can prevent, overcome and resolve the damage caused by violence against the elderly. |
