Objective: To compare the level of confidence of the vestibular patient in performing activities involving pre and post VR balance. Method: Work approved by the research ethics committee (opinion 1,808,228). This is a clinical trial, classified as a longitudinal, individuated analytical intervention study. Participants were 14 individuals of both sexes, with peripheral vestibular disease. The ABC Scale was applied in pre and post VR conditions. The data were analyzed in a descriptive way by Fisher's exact test, t-Sudent and the mixed effects linear model.Results: The sample was characterized by 78.57% female and 21.43% male, with a mean age of 59.21 years. No correlation was found between the variables gender, age and number of therapeutic sessions. Evidence of statistical difference was observed when comparing the ABC Scale results in pre and post VR conditions (<0.0001). It was also possible to observe a high level of confidence in post-VR patients. Conclusion: It was concluded that there was evidence of statistical difference regarding time in the ABC Scale, in pre and post vestibular rehabilitation conditions and in each individual item of the scale. The high level of confidence of the patients was observed in the post-VR situation, revealing the effectiveness of VR for the cases of vestibulopathies studied.

Introdução: A tontura e o desequilíbrio são prevalentes na população atual. Visando reduzir os sintomas vestibulares, a reabilitação vestibular (RV) surge como opção terapêutica. Questionários são utilizados para avaliar a interferência dos sintomas vestibulares, e dentre eles, destaca-se o The Activities-specific Balance Confidence Scale (ABC Scale) que avalia o nível de confiança dos indivíduos em realizar atividades diárias que envolvem o equilíbrio, atuando como preditor de risco de quedas. Objetivo: Comparar o nível de confiança do paciente vestibulopata em realizar atividades que envolvam o equilíbrio pré e pós RV. Método: Trabalho aprovado pelo comitê de ética em pesquisa (parecer 1.808.228). Trata-se de um ensaio clínico, classificado como estudo de intervenção analítico, longitudinal, individuado. Participaram 14 indivíduos, de ambos os sexos, portadores de vestibulopatia periférica. Foi aplicado o ABC Scale nas condições pré e pós RV. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva pelos testes Exato de Fisher, t-Sudent e o modelo linear de efeitos mistos. Resultados: A amostra se caracterizou por 78.57% do sexo feminino e 21.43% do sexo masculino, com média de idade de 59.21 anos. Não foram verificadas correlações entre as variáveis sexo, idade e número de sessões terapêuticas. Foi observada evidência de diferença estatística quando comparados os resultados do ABC Scale nas condições pré e pós RV (p<0.0001). Pôde-se observar também um elevado nível de confiança dos pacientes pós RV. Conclusão: Conclui-se que houve evidência de diferença estatística referente ao tempo no ABC Scale, nas condições pré e pós reabilitação vestibular e em cada item individual da escala.
