Resumo:INTRODUCTION: The receptive vocabulary is one of the levels of language that starts its development at an early age and refers to the words that the individual is able to access from his inferential ability to use contextual information. The acquisition of this skill is subject to interference from the environment and can be influenced by socioeconomic status. The aim of this study was to describe and relate the performance in receptive vocabulary in schoolchildren with learning difficulties of different educational levels and socioeconomic levels. METHODS: Documentary study, approved by the Research Ethics Committee under number 1,012,635, with analysis of medical records between 2017 and 2019. 46 medical records were analyzed considering the demographic data of gender, education and socioeconomic level of the family, using the Association's questionnaire. Brazilian Research Companies - ABEP (2015) and receptive vocabulary skills, by the Vocabulary Test by Figures - TVfusp. In this test, the expected average for each school year was 105.8 (2nd year), 112.8 (3rd year) and 117.4 (4th year). RESULTS: Of the 46 participants in the sample, 31 (67.4%) were male and 15 (32.6%) female, with a predominance of students in the 4th year (34.80%). At the socioeconomic level, the public served is between levels B and D-E. In the vocabulary assessment, 28 of the 46 participants obtained an “average” classification. In general, boys showed better performance than girls. CONCLUSION: Regardless of socioeconomic level, most participants obtained an average rating in receptive vocabulary, regardless of socio-level economic.
