Resumo:Asthma is characterized by chronic inflammation of the airways from bronchial hyperresponsiveness to direct or indirect stimuli such as genetic factors, physical activities, and environmental changes. Uncontrolled disease, in addition to causing diverse physical consequences, can also have a strong emotional impact, negatively affecting the health-related quality of life (HRQL) of the individual. HRQL is determined by the individual's perception of a set of conditions that contribute to their physical and emotional well-being within society. Objective Objective: to evaluate the agreement between the perception of HRQL of children and adolescents with asthma and that of their parents/guardians from the Brazilian version of the PedsQLTM Asthma Module Short Form 22. Methods: a cross-sectional and exploratory study in which 170 participants were evaluated. There were 54 children and 31 adolescents with asthma between 5 and 18 years old and 85 parents / guardians. The socioeconomic condition was evaluated with the questionnaire Criterion of Economic Classification Brazil proposed by the Brazilian Association of Research Companies (ABEP). The HRQL was evaluated by the PedsQLTM Asthma Module Short Form 22 in its translated version, adapted and validated for the Brazilian population. Pulmonary function was measured by spirometry, adopting references from the American Thoracic Society and the European Respiratory Society. Statistical analysis was performed by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) to compare the questionnaire scores, and the effect size (ES), calculated by Cohen's d. Results: The ICC between the scores in the PedsQLTM Asthma Module Short Form 22 questionnaire for children and their parents/guardians was 0,313 for the "symptoms" domain (ES = 0.02) and 0.447 for the "treatment problems" domain (ES = 0.02). The ICC between adolescents and their parents/guardians was 0.490 for the "symptoms" domain (ES = 0.002) and 0.549 for the "treatment problems" domain (TE = 0.06). Conclusion: The PedsQLTM Asthma Module Short Form 22 is able to provide high agreement measures among children/adolescents diagnosed with asthma from 5 to 18 years and their parents/guardians.
