Resumo:Objective: To verify the association between functional mobility and sociodemographic, clinical-functional and psycho-cognitive characteristics of elderly people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). Methods: Cross-sectional, observational study with a sample of 79 elderly individuals aged 60 years or older, diagnosed with T2DM and both sexes. The analyzed variables were sociodemographic, clinical-functional and psycho-cognitive data. To evaluate the functional mobility, the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT) was used. Results: The sample had a mean age of 69.6±7.04 years, with 64.6% female. The mean TUGT was 14.30±11.62 seconds, with 32.4% presenting risk of falls. Functional mobility is impaired in elderly diabetics when associated with advanced age, poor general health, physical inactivity, higher BMI, high number of diseases, insulin use, complaint of lower limb pain, use of walking aid and depressive symptoms. Conclusion: The knowledge of factors that lead to worse mobility in elderly with DM2 allows directing preventive and rehabilitative strategies.
