With the growing aging of the Brazilian population, a constant search and interest in adapting to the new virtual communication tools can be observed by the elderly public. Thus, it is necessary to plan and execute health care in a safe and effective way, in view of the greater needs and weaknesses of this public. The pharmacist is a healthcare professional who has the possibility of direct contact with patients in order to provide assistance. This study aimed to describe the development process of the MED60 + application (app), designed to contribute to the rational use of medicines by elderly patients, through a virtual assistance from the health professional, in collaboration with family members and caregivers. First, a team was formed with some members of the research group, with knowledge in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences, who participated in the elaboration of the application's content (name of the app, logo, polls, how to access the app, development, trademark registration and validation tests). The application was developed by MIT app inventor (programming tool), based on the results collected in the questionnaire published in the community through Google forms. The MED60+ brand was registered at INPI (National Institute of Industrial Property), by AGIR (Innovation Agency of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte). During the tests with the team, the application worked normally, on its different screens and subscreens containing the filling in of personal data, history and pharmacotherapy of the patient, being also able to use as a communication link between professionals and elderly / caregivers WhatsApp and e-mail. MED60+ has great potential for easy access and handling, as well as for ensuring safe and effective remote pharmaceutical care, in addition to the possibility of expanding its functions, in order to constantly update its intrinsic technology and playing an important role in increasing the quality of life of people over 60. The fast pace in the development of technologies such as robotics, applications for cell
phones and computers has brought revolutions in the health area, both for professionals and
patients. With the growing aging of the Brazilian population, a constant search and interest in
adapting to the new virtual communication tools can be observed by the elderly public. Thus,
it is necessary to plan and execute health care in a safe and effective way, in view of the greater
needs and weaknesses of this public. The pharmacist is a healthcare professional who has the
possibility of direct contact with patients in order to provide assistance. This study aimed to
describe the development process of the MED60 + application (app), designed to contribute to
the rational use of medicines by elderly patients, through a virtual assistance from the health
professional, in collaboration with family members and caregivers. First, a team was formed
with some members of the research group, with knowledge in the field of Pharmaceutical
Sciences, who participated in the elaboration of the application's content (name of the app, logo,
