Resumo:In the recent years, teleworking has been implemented by both private and public organizations in Brazil, aiming increasing productivity, reduction of costs and improvement of the quality of life of employees. In public organizations, its adoption occurs, in most cases, through pilot projects to evaluate the feasibility of the idea, and review of the process before the implementation in a definitive way. The aim of this essay is to analyze how the process of implementation of the Telework Pilot Project occurred in the Federal Prosecution Service in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. The research is characterized as an descriptive and qualitative case study. The data were obtained by analysis of documents made available by the institution and also carried out a semi-structured interview with a member of the working group in the institution responsible for implementing the project. The work describes the criteria and conditions for carrying out the telework in the institution, the main activities developed, monitoring and control actions, and the results achieved by the experimental project. At the end of the project it was possible to detect increased productivity and a high level of acceptance by the employees, which led the institution to decide to adopt telework in a definitive way. It is concluded that teleworking can be a very advantageous modality, which presents gains both for the institution, as for the civil servants and society in general.
