Resumo:The study aimed to understand the contributions of financial education to high school students. The research has an exploratory, descriptive, bibliographical and analytical character, and is defined as quantitative, because, from the application of 150 questionnaires, it was possible to statistically measure data about the reality of young people. As a research tool was used the questionnaire instrument, which was applied with high school students in a private school in the city of Natal / RN, as well as an interview with the pedagogical coordinator to identify the vision and posture of the institution before The theme worked. From the data collected, it can be seen that financial education can positively contribute to young people's attitude towards money, stimulating conscious decision-making, such as the adoption of financial planning in their daily lives. In addition, the research found that the family posture interferes considerably in the consumption habits of young people and the school is a strategic environment to approach the subject, as it allows the theme to be inserted in the reality of the students from an early age, besides most of them. families have no knowledge of the issue to assist in the training of young people.
