The above mentioned factor can still be concomitantly credited to the numerous local vocations that serve the regional, national and international markets, such as: irrigated fruit, fish (tuna and mecca), shrimp farming, mineral extraction, salt industry, textile industry, among other economic segments. From this scenario, this research aims to understand and conceive the possibility / feasibility of integrating the logistic modes in an analytical and structural perspective of the intersection axis of the metropolitan region of Natal as one of the elements for the logistic development of the state of Rio Grande do Norte. The research on screen is of a qualitative and quantitative nature and exploratory, descriptive, analytical-propositional and focused on case study. This research developed the term Integrated / Unified Logistics Center (CLIU). After choosing Candidate Area to install the Metropolitan Region of Natal CLIU, the feasibility was tested by Decision Matrix. Also, a Strategic Logistic Planning was prepared for the CLIU of the Natal Metropolitan Region. The research answers the problem question by proposing the installation of CLIU in the area of the former Augusto Severo Airport.

O Estado do Rio Grande do Norte possui uma localização geográfica estratégica sendo a Unidade Federativa mais próxima dos continentes africano e europeu, onde tal fator demonstra o quanto é necessário o desenvolvimento logístico com vistas à manutenção da garantia do transporte de cargas para o respectivo atendimento a estes continentes. Ainda pode concomitantemente creditar-se ao fator anteriormente mencionado as inúmeras vocações locais que atendem aos mercados regional, nacional e internacional, tais como: a fruticultura irrigada, pescados (atum e meca), a carcinicultura, a extração mineral, a indústria salineira, a indústria têxtil, entre outros segmentos econômicos. Esta pesquisa objetivou compreender e conceber a possibilidade/viabilidade de integração dos modais logísticos numa perspectiva analítica e estrutural do eixo de intersecção da região metropolitana de Natal como um dos elementos para o desenvolvimento logístico do estado do Rio Grande do Norte. A pesquisa em tela é de natureza quali-quantitativa e de caráter exploratório, descritiva, analítica-propositiva debruçada sobre estudo de caso. Esta pesquisa desenvolveu o termo Centro Logístico Integrado/Unificado (CLIU) como ponto central de sua proposta cientifica. Após a escolha de área candidata para instalar o CLIU da Região Metropolitana de Natal foi testado à viabilidade através de Matriz de Decisão.
