Resumo:The present research aims to identify the ideal location for the installation of a supermarket in the North Zone of Natal/RN, based on a location study, allowing a better analysis in the competitive market and reducing costs for the organization. For that, a survey was conducted using the tools of Google Earth and Google Maps, to find the geographical position of competitors. Subsequently, a survey of per capita income and population of each neighborhood of the studied region was performed. From these data, a categorization was elaborated according to the size of the competing supermarkets, as well as the population size of each studied neighborhood. Therefore, the center of gravity model was used to find the most favorable geographical position for the construction of a new supermarket. With the geographical position found, the qualitative weighting method was applied, which will highlight some options within a limit area of distance from the identified geographical position. Therefore, the most relevant factors to consider in the installation of the supermarket will be determined, which will be used to evaluate the available locality options. Finally, the exact location that best fits the company's needs will be identified, taking into account competitors and customers that will be impacted by this new store.
