Resumo:The financial literacy topic has been approached by many authors and organizations in Brazil as well as in other countries, such as Mexico. In its view it is perceived as a set of three minor constructs: attitude, behavior and financial knowledge. The goal of this study is to measure the level of financial literacy of the residents’ students from the central campus of UFRN. A data lift was made in a population of 384 resident students in which 34 individuals willingly volunteered to contribute by answering surveys. The tool used for data collection was developed to measure the level of financial literacy by Potrich, Vieira and Cerretta (2013) and was later applied in other studies by the latter and other authors, such as Lana (2016). There was a high level of financial attitudes, since 33 out of 34 respondents scored more than 4 points relative to the average score acquired with the answers to the nine questions. It was observed that the vast majority of the respondents showed medium levels in relation to the financial behavior factor. It was also noted the relatively high indexes related to the percentage of correct answers regarding the questions of financial knowledge, although the level of this factor can be improved. In general, the financial literacy of the sample surveyed turned out to be medium.
