Resumo:The use of information technology by the public sector is an essential factor for the process of modernization of Brazilian public management and constitutes a central element for a new management model that contributes to the increase of the effectiveness of governmental actions and provides the necessary means to manage public policies more efficiently. The present work intends to study the use of information technology in public administration and its general objective is to analyze the perception of the servers, from different dimensions, regarding the use of Information Technologies in the management of the Cadastro Único, operationalized by the Municipal Secretary of Work and Social Assistance in the municipality of Natal/RN. The information systems (Systems de Cadastro Único V7, Sibec, SigPBF and Sicon) used in the Cadastro Único are developed and made available by federal management and have the main objectives of registering low income families, monitoring health and education conditionalities, management of benefits and support the management of the municipality. This research is classified as exploratory and descriptive and the method used is the case study. As for the methodological procedures, the bibliographical and documentary research was used, being adopted a quantitative approach. For that, questionnaires were applied with the servers that operate the information systems used in the Sector of Cadastro Único of the municipality of Natal/RN. The analysis of the results shows that the information systems used in the organization are essential to its functioning and constitute working tools of great relevance for the employees in the performance of their duties. Thus, the perception of the Technicians of the Single Cadet Sector in relation to the information technologies used to develop their functions in the organization is very positive, regarding the dimensions of analysis listed in the scope of the research. However, the dimension "Training, Support and Security" presented a result inferior to the other dimensions, since it contains variables that were poorly evaluated by the technicians of the service. Thus, although the dimension has not been completely badly evaluated, it requires greater attention from managers, in order to remedy some managerial problems
