Resumo:The present monograph has as its central question to identify and understand how the current process of spatialization and territorialization of the peasantry in the struggle for land in the state of Rio Grande do Norte occurs. Therefore, we start from the perspective that land conflicts in the state of RN arise from the non-implementation of land reform and precarious working conditions in the countryside. Landless workers join the social movements, which use land occupation as their main strategy in order to pressure the state to create policies that benefit these workers. Such research is based on a theoretical perspective centered on the concepts of territory as appropriation of geographic space, which is configured as a true field of struggle; social movements as a form of political and social organization; and occupations as a strategy used by socio-territorial movements in conquering the territory. To obtain the data, the following methodological procedures were performed: survey and mapping of the main socio-territorial movements acting in the NB, quantification, distribution and analysis of families working in occupations and families settled in the NB. Given the above, we can see that the MST is the most active movement in the fight for land in the RN, especially between 2003-2017, having led alone all occupations carried out in the East, Agreste and Central Potiguar Mesoregions and actively participating in occupations in the Mesoregion West. The other occupations were promoted by the movements, CPT, FETARN, STR and STL, having only acted in the Mesoregion West between 2003/2017.
