The objective of this work is to analyze the use of the territory by the Basic Sanitation Policy in the municipality of Bom Jesus in the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN), in terms of its implementation and effectiveness, according to the guidelines in the Law of Sanitation 11,445 / 2007. We start from the hypothesis that there is an incongruity between the normative and institutional intentions exposed in the Basic Sanitation Policy and the territorial disposition of infrastructures related to sanitation in the municipality of Bom Jesus. This assumption was analyzed according to the geographical space theory of Milton Santos. We resorted to bibliographic and documentary research procedures for institutional analysis of the Basic Sanitation Policy; Location of sanitation equipment in the municipality of Bom Jesus / RN; and Analysis of the engineering systems of the Basic Sanitation Policy in the municipality of Bom Jesus / RN, regarding its layout and efficiency; In order to prove the hypothesis, our empirical and data source base is part of the project "Technical Training and Support for the elaboration of draft Municipal Plans of Basic Sanitation (PMSB's) of municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, according to the Reference Term of FUNASA, based on profile research and socioeconomic and municipal health diagnosis. ", Or, in other words:" PMSB Research Project ". Este trabalho tem como objetivo principal, analisar o uso do território pela Política de Saneamento Básico no município de Bom Jesus/RN, no que se refere a sua implementação e efetividade, conforme as diretrizes presentes na Lei de Saneamento 11.445/2007. Partimos da hipótese de que há uma incongruência entre as intencionalidades normativas e institucionais expostas na Política Nacional de Saneamento Básico e a disposição territorial de infraestruturas relativas ao saneamento no município de Bom Jesus. Esta suposição foi analisada de acordo com a teoria do espaço geográfico de Milton Santos.
