Ocupação 8 de Março is located in Guarapes neighborhood, Zona Oeste de Natal. Its installation is recent, began in 2012 and in October 2017 suffered a great fire that destroyed about 100 shacks leaving many families homeless and fortunately no person died. The main objective of this work is to analyze the Occupation March 8 in order to define patterns of vulnerability so that it is possible to identify within the city of Natal, points that are at risk, thus helping the Civil Defense and the Fire Department in the performance in such cases. For this, it was necessary a bibliographical research about the subjects discussed here (fire, precarious communities, urbanization), use of Google Earth and Qgis to spatialize the object of study and make interactions about the other comparatives, conducting interviews with the Fire Department, Defense Civil and representative of the Fight of Neighborhoods, Villages and Favelas Movement. The March 8 Occupation like any other presents aspects that make it vulnerable, from its construction material to the customs of the population that resides there, then it becomes necessary that both structural methods as alarm systems and constructions of new housing, as non-structural, as lectures for this population, to be made in these communities so that fire in these less favored areas may be mitigated and prevented.

Os casos de incêndios em comunidades precárias vem se tornando um assunto cada vez mais debatido dentre as ciências, e isso se dá pois é um assunto que abrange diversos temas que merecem destaque para que haja discussão e engloba um contexto humano muito delicado que necessita de uma atenção maior por parte do Poder Público para que os moradores dessas áreas não fiquem tão vulneráveis e tenham condições de vida digna. A Ocupação 8 de Março se localiza no bairro Guarapes, Zona Oeste de Natal. Sua instalação é recente, começou em 2012 e no mês de outubro de 2017 sofreu um grande incêndio que destruiu cerca de 100 barracos deixando muitas famílias desabrigadas e felizmente nenhuma pessoa morreu. O objetivo principal deste trabalho é analisar a Ocupação 8 de Março a fim de definir padrões de vulnerabilidade para que assim seja possível identificar dentro da cidade de Natal, pontos que estejam em situação de risco ajudando assim a Defesa Civil e o Corpo de Bombeiros na atuação em casos de desastre desse tipo. Para isso foi necessário uma pesquisa bibliográfica sobre os temas aqui discutidos (incêndio, comunidades precárias, urbanização), uso do Google Earth e Qgis para espacializar o objeto de estudo e fazer interelações sobre os demais comparativos, realização entrevistas com o Corpo de Bombeiros, Defesa Civil e representante do Movimento de Luta de Bairros, Vilas e Favelas.
