The study initially presents a descriptive analysis of the socioeconomic profile of the students of the Course of Accounting Sciences of the Faculty of Seridó (FAS), where it is evidenced a predominance of females in said graduation, with the great majority of these students residing in the municipality of origin College and with a high percentage of age between the ages of 21 and 24 years. The passing rate of the students eligible to take the Federal Accounting Council (CFC) admission exam in the period from 2015.2 to 2016.1 is 16%. This study also presents and discusses questions related to the difficulties of these students in the subjects studied during the graduation and in the said examination of the CFC. In addition, it is observed that a considerable part of the students has, since high school, certain difficulties in dealing with subjects related to Mathematics. Inferential analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test and the Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney test and showed statistical significance in some of the study variables. O estudo inicialmente apresenta uma análise descritiva do perfil socioeconômico dos discentes do Curso de Ciências Contábeis da Faculdade do Seridó (FAS), onde é evidenciada uma predominância do sexo feminino na referida graduação, com a grande maioria desses alunos residindo no próprio município de origem da faculdade e com alto percentual de idade entre a faixa etária dos 21 aos 24 anos. O índice de aprovação dos alunos aptos a realizar o exame de admissão do Conselho Federal de Contabilidade (CFC), no período de 2015.2 a 2016.1, é de 16%. Este estudo também apresenta e discute questões relacionadas às dificuldades desses discentes nas disciplinas cursadas no decorrer da graduação e no referido exame do CFC. Além disso, é observado que parte considerável dos alunos traz, desde o ensino médio, certas dificuldades em lidar com disciplinas ligadas à área da Matemática.
