This large handling of items has been proved to be unsustainable for the department, that did not have any computerization, what made the process slow and unreliable. There was a growing demand for a system that would effectively manage this process. This work presents a solution to this problem through a tool that allows the classification of dental instruments through the use of QR Code labels, and, by these means, streamline and make the process of handling the items more reliable. The decisions made throughout the process of creating the solution are described, from the requirements survey and system modeling to the development of the system. The results of the implementation of the tool are also discussed, by analyzing its impact for the sector and the possible improvements to be made O setor de esterilização do Departamento de Odontologia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte diariamente recebe centenas de aparelhos odontológicos para serem esterilizados. Este grande fluxo de entrada e saída de itens por vezes mostrou-se insustentável para o setor, que não contava com qualquer informatização, acabando por tornar o processo lento e pouco confiável. Crescia então a necessidade por um sistema que gerenciasse esse processo de forma eficaz. Este trabalho apresenta uma solução para este problema através de uma ferramenta que permite categorizar os aparelhos odontológicos por meio do uso de etiquetas QR Code, e, desta forma, agilizar e tornar mais confiável o processo de entrada e saída de itens. São descritas as decisões tomadas ao longo das etapas de criação da solução, desde o levantamento de requisitos e modelagem do sistema, até o desenvolvimento deste.
