Resumo:In biology, the identification of living beings is an activity aided by identification keys, usually recorded on paper, as in books. An identification key defines the step-by-step of the features checks that the biologist must do to identify the taxonomic classifications of a living being. With the technological advances in the last years, computational tools have been developed to support the identification of living beings, so that navigation between the steps of an identification key would be facilitated against the conventional paper method. The purpose of this work is to present the results of the requirements activities for the creation of an identification key system, being developed in an extension project of the Digital Metropolis Institute and of the Biosciences Center of Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. In addition, this work also presents the execution and results of manual and automated tests performed after the completion of the system development. These results eventually contribute to the identification of software bugs, allowing an improvement in the quality of the product developed.
