Resumo:Introduction: It is known that the quality of life and social participation after stroke are affected, but the variables that affect these changes are still unknown. Objective: To study the quality of life and social participation of patients after stroke in the Trairi Region. Methodology: Prospective cross-sectional observational study with convenience sample, conducted at the Physiotherapy outpatient clinic of Trairi Health Sciences Faculty (Facisa / UFRN). We selected 34 patients who underwent an evaluation and analyzed the data through the BioEstat 5.3 program. The following measures were taken: Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Functional Independence Measure (FIM), a Fugl-Meyer Physical Performance Scale, Nottingham Sensitive Assessment (ASN), or Beck Depression Inventory (Beck Depression). Inventory, BDI-II) and Lifestyle Assessment (LIFE-H 3.1) and World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire - bref, WHOQOL-bref. Results: The quality of life of the students studied is reduced by half of the expected, presenting lower scores on the level of nutrition, housing, mobility, requirements and recreation (WHOQOL-bref) and without the LIFE-H questionnaire. social relationships. Conclusion: It can be seen that the quality of life and social participation are strongly affected after stroke.
