Resumo:Music teaching in Brazil is trying to follow the actions towards the inclusion process in educational environment, in order to permit access for individuals with impairments to this environment. Music education is one of the fields presenting notable transformations in relation to its pedagogy and teaching practices. However, discussion in respect of the inclusion process in music still needs to be extended, allowing the development of music teaching strategies in Brazil. From this perspective, in Brazil, braille music is being used to promote music education for individuals with visual impairment, with the development of vocational training and the production of didactic material and musical scores. The present study showed a brief discussion about the context of music education and individuals with visual impairments. The main tools used to ensure accessibility to music were braille system and their musical notation. The methodology consisted in a theoretical reference which deals with the significant aspects of musical education and individuals with visual impairment. In conclusion, it is important to continue the discussion in this area of music education in order to strengthen this field of study and to stimulate the development of new projects and practices.
