Resumo:This study reports and reflects about the experience of teaching how to improvise on percussive keyboards. The study was applied in two components from Percussion Group of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, on ten classes occurred between March and May of 2015. The methodology used was based on "Assimilation Theory" of Jean Piaget, as well as on authors of works on Harmony area as Turi Collura and Ian Guest among others. This methodology aims to develop the student in the practice of improvisation on popular music from the systematic study of tetrads and materials related to them. At the end of the experiment the students had already studied all tetrads of the most harmonic fields and their figures, as well as certain procedures for the application of this material on improvisation in the basic harmonics progressions of the tonal system. Moreover, they learned the twelve-bar blues and techniques for building simple melodies to be applied in improvisation on this musical genre in all possible shades.
