Resumo:This work is the result of my research on the methodology of research theme adopted by the Núcleo de Educação da Infância-Colégio de Aplicação/UFRN from the curricular restructuring in the 80s As objective of this research, I tried to discuss the construction of the Research Theme as pedagogical proposal in music classes with children of elementary school in the early years in the NEI. This proposal seeks autonomy of the child in the classroom through their own curiosities and interests on topics chosen by them, thus making the most pleasurable classes and doing a meaning for them. This research was qualitative methodology approach, as action research. With the data construction of instruments: lesson plans, field diary and photos of the school environment. In conclusion, through the Research Theme methodology the child may live and learn in an interdisciplinary way aspects related to musical elements, thus broadening his interest and knowledge of the world and for the world. Therefore, this research is relevant in the sense that teachers, especially music educators, can think of other methodological possibilities for understanding the music taking into account what the child already knows and what he would like to know.
