Resumo:This research aims to report the author's experience in the practice of the “Kizambe” percussion workshop, endeavoring to build a proper teaching to the lay public through the implementation of a series of workshops related to the problem in question. Thus, this study seeks subsidies for the theoretical substantitation allied to the description of the workshops and also reports related to the preliminary results obtained from this process. The methodology used in this study was developed through the practice of teaching of popular rhythms, tied to pedagogical techniques of teaching focused on the practice of non-formal education. Therefore, there were developed new interpretative strategies, aspiring to a greater understanding and maturity of the author‟s interaction with the participants. Both the perception and the interaction of the students were very satisfactory, considering that it was a first rhythmic / musical experience. Finally, we sought a reflection on the experience and learning acquired during this pedagogic process related to non-formal education. It was concluded that while the methodology of the workshop is based on intuitive learning, there will be a series of new problems created by the use of the non-formal space studied by formal parameters.
