Resumo:This research aims to analyze the importance and impact that the voluntary participation of young people in the Orquestra Jovem Popular do (Popular Youth Orchestra of) IFRN/CNAT brings to their own lives and to the community in general. Therefore, in addition to analyzing the dynamics of the functioning of the classes and rehearsals, it will be done a reflection about the personal profile of the young people who participate in the project. Also, this research will analyze the impact of the orchestra on academic performance and social interaction of this young people. Besides that, it will be investigated the perspective that participants have regarding the future in music. The methodology used was the case study from a non-participant observation and application of a structured online questionnaire (via Google Forms app). The research was based on the work of Arroyo (2002), Barbosa (1996), Higino (2006), Kandler (2011) and Brito (2011). The results showed that the orchestra provides students with an improved quality of life and provides them with a better perspective of the future through music.
