Resumo:The present work aims to report the teaching of the electric guitar in a non-formal context in the church, where through the experiences lived among a group I realized the importance of the role of the church in relation to the junction and socialization between members and visitors thus contributing to a education focused on instrument practices. Having as a general objective, how an academic formation of a teacher can contribute to the development of musical teaching in the church. The theoretical part discusses, Importance of academic training for music teachers, teaching music in churches. It is configured as a qualitative research, through an experience report that portrays the experiences, learnings and daily results, thus portraying a personal experience. This research concludes that the importance of academic academic training for a musician in the non-formal environment is extremely necessary. Because, the sum of the lived experiences, having mistakes and successes, contributed to a self-assessment and the search for knowledge. Using them to organize a methodology capable of supplying the essential needs for musical performance of the individual, thus building a critical being who seeks every day to research and improve his musical knowledge.
