Resumo:The central of this work is the research and, more specifically, the field of scientific literature in music education. From this perspective, our ai mis is to understand and analyze the state of the art of scientific production in the Master of music course at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) . This line of research is about the processes and dimensions of education in music. We seek a link between the thematics of the student texts with the graduate program in question. We also look at current discussions involving music education, as well as some of the impacts and challenges of such production. The methodology used to construct this research was the qualitative approach, along with an interrelation of a quantitative approach. We chose a documentary research, taking into consideration the analysis of texts as well as some documents necessary for the construction of Chapter 4. In conjunction with this, we also utilized a semi-structured interview as a research technique. We interviewed four professors of the institution. They were, in a way, the protagonists who foster research at Music School of UFRN (EMUFRN). With the results, we see with quantitative data that the Master’s course is increasing in a positive manner. In qualitative data, we verified a significant connection between the scientific production analyzed and the Graduate Program and the shaping of researchers. This can have a positive impact. A relationship was perceived between the thematics and current discussions in music education. We conclude emphasizing the importance of scientific production and the fostering of research with actions that support such aspects, especially regarding the formation of researchers in music and, more specifically, in music education at the Master and Doctoral levels.
