Resumo:This work deals with Professional Training in Music. It aims to analyze the contribution of a Clarinet Choir regarding technical and artistic training of their musicians. Concerning the methodological aspects, the research considered the analysis of musical learning process through group practice considering works of Beineke (2003) and Joly and Joly (2011). As for academic musical practice and its characteristics, the work relied on works of Salgado and Aragão (2011). Since the author was part of the group, the research was characterized as action-research. In order to understand the contributions of the group towards musical training of its members, a structured interview was done with five members. It aimed to identify aspects regarding individual and group relationship as well as the interaction between the members and the technical study of the repertoire. The Clarinet Choir was created in 2008 as part of the Music School at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil. It is coordinated by faculty members and of the institution as well as personnel linked to graduate training courses. Initially, all the group actions were part of institutional academic community projects. Through the years, there was an increase in its participation in institutional, local, regional and national events and participation in the largest clarinet convention in the world for two consecutive years, the Clarinetfest. This was possible due to the group´s repertoire, musicians’ technical development and the project´s sound identity. Between the years of 2008 and 2018 numerous clarinetists integrated the group and experienced together their moments of musical formation through music practice. Thus, results show an intense contribution of the group to the professional formation of its members in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil.
