In this context, new discursive genres appear to meet the current demands for social interaction: among them, Pechakucha (PK). To contribute to this reflection, this documentary research, of a qualitative and interpretative nature, takes PK as its object of study. Our general objective is to define PK as a multisemiotic discursive genre and, to achieve it, we have established two specific objectives: a) to identify the multisemiotic aspects of PK and b) to map the rhetorical movements of PK. To accomplish our goals, we base ourselves on the dialogical conception of language and on the discursive genre (BAKHTIN [1929] 2016), as well as on the understanding that the discursive genre is always allied to social action (BAZERMAN, 2011), in literacy studies of a sociocultural nature (KLEIMAN [1995] 2008; TINOCO, 2008; ROJO, 2015) and aspects of multisemiosis (ROJO; BARBOSA, 2015). The data analysis indicates some singularities of the PK regarding the textual, cognitive and social dimensions of this genre, which is by nature multisemiotic. In this analysis, the observation of the recurring patterns of the PK’s rhetorical movements supports the Bakhtinian notion of the discursive genre’s relative stability, despite it being such a recent phenomenon. Nesse contexto, surgem novos gêneros discursivos para suprir as demandas atuais de interação social: entre eles, a Pechakucha (PK). Para contribuir com essa reflexão, esta pesquisa documental, de natureza qualitativa e interpretativista, toma por objeto de estudo a PK. Nosso objetivo geral é definir a PK como gênero discursivo multissemiótico e, para atingi-lo, estabelecemos dois objetivos específicos: a) identificar os aspectos multissemióticos da PK e b) mapear os movimentos retóricos da PK. A fim de alcançarmos nossos objetivos, fundamentamo-nos na concepção dialógica da linguagem e na de gênero discursivo (BAKHTIN [1929] 2016), bem como na compreensão de que o gênero discursivo está sempre aliado à ação social (BAZERMAN, 2011), nos estudos de letramento de vertente sociocultural (KLEIMAN [1995] 2008; TINOCO, 2008; ROJO, 2015) e em aspectos da multissemiose (ROJO; BARBOSA, 2015). A análise dos dados sinaliza algumas singularidades da PK no que tange às dimensões textuais, cognitivas e sociais desse gênero que é por natureza multissemiótico.
