Resumo:This article seeks to contribute to the study of management in the oil and gas industry to present a mathematical model, using the Data Envelopment Analysis Tool (DEA) to evaluate the relative efficiency of production units in petroleum engineering, with a methodology efficient that helps in planning and decision making. This paper quantifies the number of publications over the periods and seeks to identify the research areas of development using DEA in petroleum engineering and characterize the situation in Brazil. A major goal is to demonstrate the efficiency or inefficiency verified from confrontational variables (inputs / outputs). The DEA began the work undertaken by Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes in 1978, which was based on the work of Farrell (1957). The evolution of DEA modeling, the large number of published articles can prove both in its theoretical aspects and in its applications. However, in the petroleum engineering, production is still incipient
