As for the methodology, there was a bibliometric research. Articles that present in their title words referring to the travel agencies, were selected, these studies published between 2006-2011 aiming to its analysis. The intent of the research was then study the following variables of found articles: adopted research; approached thematic and frequency; most discussed authors, and data collection instruments. Therefore, it was used for this, the content analysis technique. As a result of the analysis it was identified a small number of publications that discuss the thematic of travel and tourism agencies, as well, it can be observed that the emphasis by the authors with relation to the area studies stops in services by travel agencies, in view of the use of the Internet as a distribution and acquisition channel of touristic services Considerando as mudanças do mercado e a necessidade de um olhar para os empreendimentos turísticos, propôs-se, neste trabalho, fazer um levantamento dos artigos científicos, publicados em revistas de turismo classificadas na Qualis/CAPES com estratos indicativos de qualidade variados, que discutem sobre questões relacionadas às empresas intermediadoras dos serviços de viagens, ou seja, que possuem como temática as agências de viagens. Quanto à metodologia, tem-se uma pesquisa bibliométrica. Artigos, que apresentam em seu título palavras que se referem às agências de viagens, foram selecionados, esses estudos publicados no período de 2006-2011 objetivando sua análise. O intuito da pesquisa foi, então, estudar as seguintes variáveis dos artigos encontrados: pesquisa adotada; temática abordada e frequência; autores mais discutidos; e instrumentos de coleta de dados. Logo, utilizou-se, para isso, da técnica análise de conteúdo.
