Resumo: | INTRODUCTION: historically, the Brazilian rural scenario is surrounded by social
inequalities that influence the subjects' life trajectories. Rural women suffer from these
inequalities due to their class and gender condition, and there is a need to consider the
processes that lead these women to resist daily adversities, such as resilience and quality
of life. OBJECTIVE: Analyzing the intersections between resilience and quality of life
in rural women. METHOD: a convergent parallel (QUAN + QUAL) mixed methods
study, in which a quantitative observational study, whose sample consisted of 87 rural
women; and a qualitative study, guided by the oral life history method, in which seven
women participated. Data was simultaneously collected between July and November
2020, in the rural area of the municipality of Nazarezinho, Paraíba. In the quantitative
study, the following instruments were applied: a sociodemographic form, the Resilience
Scale, and the Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36).
Qualitative data was collected by means of open interviews, which were recorded. The
quantitative data treatment was performed by SPSS software version 25.0® in which
descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were performed. Qualitative data was
initially transcribed, textualized and transcribed, when they were then submitted to
inductive thematic analysis. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee
of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte under opinion 3.950.023. RESULTS:
it was found that the average degree of resilience verified has an association with the
social aspects domain of the SF-36, and that the other domains of quality of life, when
considered independent variables in a multiple linear regression model, predict about
14.1% of the resilience scores, indicating that resilience influences the quality of life of
rural women and is influenced by it. The analysis of life narratives, subsidized by the
three delimited thematic axes - Feminine (R) existences: the comings and goings of
women in rural daily life; Conceptions of rural women about health and quality of life;
and Rurality, resilience and quality of life: interfaces promoting protection factors -
highlights that, despite the setbacks and difficulties experienced, rural women view their
daily lives with satisfaction, and perceive it as promoting health and resilience. The
integration of results allowed expanding the knowledge about how the intersection
between these constructs occurs, and it is assumed that it occurs from the mediation of
protective factors developed by rural women, among them, the feelings of enchantment
and belonging to their context, the formation of social support networks and spirituality.
CONCLUSION: Based on the understanding that resilience influences the quality of life
of rural women, it is expected that this study will contribute to subsidize future
interventions and public policies that make it possible to raise the quality of life and
reduce existing inequalities in rural areas, and contribute to the promotion of the health
of women who (r)exist in this context. |
