Descrição
Resumo:The study evaluated a conventional thermopolymerizable occlusal splint (PC) and made by milled CAD / CAM (PF) in patients with sleep bruxism regarding surface roughness. Materials and Methods: the pilot study was composed of two groups: PC; N = 5 and PF; N = 13. The selected patients were selected for the presence of probable sleep bruxism, through a questionnaire and clinical examination. They were made as occlusal splint, the occlusal adjustments were made and the surface roughness was evaluated after 15 and 60 days of installation. For a roughness analysis, the most posterior contact point on the plate and the canine guide region were considered, bilaterally, that is, a plate had four points of analysis, two anterior and two posterior. An analysis was carried out on the CCI MP non-contact 3D optical profilometer; the data were obtained and obtained using the Taysurf CCI software (Taylor Hobson) and a descriptive analysis was performed. Results: at time 1 (t1 = 15 days) the PC group (Sa = 34.17 and Ra = 32.82) obtained a roughness higher than that of PF (Sa = 29.72 and Ra = 26.13), with PC 20 , 38% rougher than the PF group. After evaluation at time 2 (t2 = 60 days), an inversion was observed, that is, PF (Sa = 32.4; Ra = 29.1) with more rough characteristics than PC (Sa = 28.8; Ra = 25.69), being 11.71% rougher than PC. Conclusion: The PC group showed higher surface roughness when compared to the PF group, for the Sa and Ra analyzes at t1, but when observed at t2, the roughness of the PC group was lower.
