In addition, it also aims to build a document that serves as a record of the history of the first building on the most famous and most valuable waterfront in the city. I use the possible contrasts that in the capital are very strong and capable of dismembering it in several cities. For this, I analyze the strongest patrimonial issues in Brazil and in the world and I funnel the subject trying to understand the reasons for the construction of the building on the waterfront, little explored at the time of its construction in 1951. I develop a predominantly qualitative research, with a bibliographic review that has the function of understanding the relationships built with the sea over the years, until I get into the history of the old Iracema Plaza Hotel that became São Pedro Building, using in-depth interviews. In addition, it was possible to understand that the forces of real estate capital are extremely mobilizing and dictating what actually happens in the urban environment. Essa dissertação tem como objetivo refletir sobre como o estado do patrimônio público é capaz de denunciar a negligência e a omissão da memória na cidade, analisando o caso do Edifício São Pedro em Fortaleza. Para além disso, também visa construir um documento que sirva como registro à história do primeiro prédio da orla mais conhecida e de mais alto valor na cidade. Uso os contrastes possíveis que na capital alencarina são muito fortes e capazes de desmembrá-la em diversas cidades, mesmo sendo uma só. Para isso, analiso as questões patrimoniais mais fortes no Brasil e no mundo e afunilo o assunto tentando entender os motivos da construção do prédio na orla, pouco explorada na época de sua construção em 1951. Desenvolvo uma pesquisa predominantemente qualitativa, com uma revisão bibliográfica que tem a função de compreender as relações construídas com o mar durante os anos, até que adentro a história do antigo Iracema Plaza Hotel que se transformou em Edifício São Pedro, me utilizando de entrevistas em profundidade.
