Ethnography was developed from the essays and main presentations made by the group. The discussions involved in the dissertation address the construction of symbolic elements and strategies that make up the itinerary of a tradition in the contemporary world, in view of the new configurations of social relations and forms of belonging. In addition, I use the notion of cultural performance to interpret the meanings and memories triggered by marigatu potiguar and how they relate to the constructions of belonging and collective representation of black culture in the city's territories. Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES Este trabalho investiga a fundação, construção e movimentação da Nação Zambêracatu, primeiro maracatu construído no Rio Grande do Norte. Procuro analisar de que forma as demandas de identificação por uma negritude potiguar marcada por elementos da religiosidade afro-brasileira e relaciona com o surgimento de uma tradição cultural. A etnografia foi realizada a partir dos ensaios e principais apresentações desenvolvidas pelo grupo. As discussões envolvidas na dissertação abordam elementos simbólicos e estratégias que compõem a construção de uma tradição no mundo contemporâneo, tendo em vista as novas configurações das relações sociais e formas de pertencimento.
